3 Steps I’ve Followed to Sell 50,000 Books
I’ve sold 50,000 self-published books. No publisher, no employees, no publicist. Here’s three steps to sell a lot of books.
Step 1: Write a viral title
Your title is the best ad for your book. Write a title that’s easy to remember and even gives away much of the value of your book.
Mind Management, Not Time Management is my best title. People remember it. It expresses a point of view, and you don’t even need to read the book for the title to help you.
Step 2: Run pricing promotions
You can sell a lot of books with pricing promotions. Amazon chose Mind Management, Not Time Management for a Kindle Deal, so right now, it’s only $2.49 on Kindle in the U.S.
Yeah, I don’t make a ton of money per book, but I sell a lot of copies. It’s #1 in its category right now.
I wrote a viral title, so each of these new readers will tell their friends, who will buy the book when it’s full price.
Step 3: Write lots of books
When readers like one book, they buy your others. Each new book grows your sales, like a snowball.
It sounds like too much work, but some of my books are 30 pages, some 250, some 150, some 75. Some in a series, some not.
Each new book is a chance to reach new readers who will tell their friends your viral titles.
