The town in which I grew up is orders of magnitude larger than Napoleon: Omaha, Nebraska. Still, I can relate.

When I left, it seemed so isolated and behind. Your movie selection was at the mercy of what the video rental place had in stock. You might find something “Independent.”

As a designer, I argued with printers who were still using QuarkXPress, and wouldn’t switch to InDesign, which was clearly better! “You’ll have to switch eventually,” I reasoned.

Last time I visited, I was amazed at how people didn’t seem so behind. They had the same iPhones and apps as everyone in San Francisco or Chicago. Web designers were talking about Responsive Design.

And the printers were finally using InDesign.
